Acute Nonspecific Mesenteric Lymphadenitis

Abstract
This report is a clinical analysis of 12 cases of acute nonspecific mesenteric lymphadenitis which were treated at the 208 mobile army surgical hospital during last 1 year from May 1982 to April 1983, it was analysed with the literature review.
1) It occured most frequently in the autumn and summer.
2) The cardinal features of mesenteric lymphadenitis were colicky abdominal pain, fever and leukocytosis.
3) The disease most commonly mistaken for appendicitis was mesenteric lymphadenitis.
4) The medical treatment had no effect on the symptoms of mesenteric lymphadenitis within 48 hours.
5) The appendectomy could improved symptoms of meseriteric lymphadenitis within 2nd postoperative days.
6) There was no significant difference in the frequency of complications in patients with mesenteric lyphadenitis and patients with nonperforated appendicitis.
7) There was no specific operative and postoperative complication.
